Structural Insulated Panels
MM&I has developed a new line of Structural Insulated Panels, called RENEGADE PANELS. Renegade Panels are the next evolution of Structural Insulated Panels, Supplying Customers’ needs with the most efficient SIP available. These structural composite panels are made with expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam insulation laminated between two sheets of oriented strand board (OSB). What makes RENEGADE PANELS different from other SIPs? We use 19/32” OSB for the skins of our panels, which is thicker and stronger than the industry standard 7/16” OSB. RENEGADE SIPs are available in sizes up to 8’ x 24’ and thicknesses ranging from 4-13/16”, 6-13/16”, 8-9/16”, 10-9/16”, and 12-9/16”.
Our RENEGADE PANEL SIP packages are divided into three categories:
- Ready to Assemble (RTA)
- Pre-cut
- Blank
The ready to assemble RENEGADE PANEL SIP package is typically the package of choice by the majority of our clients, because it reduces construction time and improves efficiency. This package includes panel shop drawings created from a 3-D AutoCAD model, precut panels with lumber preinstalled in the factory wherever possible, and all of the accessories needed to properly assemble the package on the site. Each project is specific, and the client must refer to their written contract for all of the details.
If you are looking for stronger SIPs that can span further and carry more load, you are in the right place. Our NTA Code Listing for RENEGADE PANELS is available upon request and shows the tremendous strength of our panels. 19/32” OSB also qualifies for the code required 15 minute thermal barrier on the interior of a structure, so drywall is not necessarily required on RENEGADE PANELS. This is useful in storage areas or other unfinished spaces. 19/32” OSB also provides 35% more thickness for attaching finish materials, both on the interior on the exterior. This is an excellent benefit for the heavier cement and tile finish materials that are becoming more popular on walls and on roofs. It is also great for hanging cabinets and other heavier items on the interior.
MM&I also has the option of providing SIPs with 7/16” OSB, if that is your preference. Please contact us and find out how we can help to make your SIP project a success.
